About the event
Welcome to the Soulful Sister Collective! A community and sisterhood, dedicated to the inclusion, appreciation and empowerment of Black Women. This month, we're happy to offer Healing Through Movement: A Somatic Movement Experience
Join Ayanna & The Soulful Sister Collective for an afternoon of gentle movement & healing through restorative yoga, mediation & sound healing.
Too often, we go through life with trauma & stress stuck in the body. When unresolved, these things may manifest as physical tension, pain or even digestive issues. Somatic movement & therapy, uses the knowledge & wisdom of the body, to understand how we see the world & process our experiences. Meaning, creating safety to sit with & integrate those experiences. The Soulful Sister Collective is thrilled to partner with the incredible Ayana Freedom, for a very special Healing Through Movement experience on Jan 24th.
The Class:
Ayanna will lead you through a somatic healing experience geared towards connecting with the subtle body and the internal self in order to release what is no longer needed. The class will be integrated with gentle movements, breath work, restorative yoga, yoga Nidra and sound healing. This class is particularly geared towards teaching the body how to become free and release trauma and racial trauma that is hidden in the body.
What is Somatic Healing/Therapy?
Somatic therapy is a holistic therapeutic approach that emphasizes the mind-body connection. It is based on the premise that trauma and stress can become trapped in the body, manifesting as physical symptoms or somatic experiences. This form of therapy incorporates physical techniques, such as deep breathing, relaxation exercises, and movement, to help release the stored tension and trauma in the body.
