About the event

Welcome to the Soulful Sister Collective! We're a community and sisterhood, dedicated to the inclusion, appreciation and empowerment of Black Women. We create wellness experiences that elevate in judgement free spaces, where Black Women can move, learn and heal together. Join Britney this Saturday for a 50min Afro-beats themed mat Pilates class.

Meet Your Instructor: Britney is seasoned fitness instructor and community builder. When she's not teaching all over the city, she's planning events for the Soulful Sister Collective, which she founded in 2024. Britney has had the pleasure of teaching classes for many studios & brands throughout New England including Life Time Fitness, Down Under School of Yoga, Soma Yoga, PUMA, Seaport Sweat, DAYBREAKERS + many more! Her mission centers on making movement accessible to everyone. She looks forward to moving with you, soon! 💖

What is Pilates? Pilates is an exercise system that improves strength, flexibility, and balance. Pilates combines breath, movement, and proper body mechanics to enhance physical and mental awareness of how the body moves and feels.

In this all-levels mat Pilates practice, you'll challenge your muscles while building overall breath and body awareness. Hang with the collective following class for an opportunity to connect with the community.

We're excited to partner with JAE Dance Center. A Cultural Haven and Hub: The JAE Dance Center is a haven for people of Haitian and afro-Caribbean descent, and a hub for people of all backgrounds to visit Nubian Square. It's a place where JAE will develop new programs and foster partnerships with like-minded local organizations that'll boost the health and well-being of our community.

FAQ'S

  • Can I take this class if I am new to Pilates?

    • Absolutely! Class is designed with all levels in mind.

  • Do I need to bring a mat?

    • A mat is recommended, however not required. There will be a limited number of mats for rent.

  • Can I take this class if I am pregnant?

While this is a gentle practice, we recommend talking with your doctor or OBGYN first, especially if you are starting something new. Your activity levels prior to and during pregnancy play a role in determining what is appropriate for you. Your doctor will be able to provide the best recommendation.

  • What should I wear?

Wear something that you feel comfortable moving in. Active wear is best for this practice. Class can be done with socks or barefoot.

  • What is Parking like? :

Street parking is limited. We recommend Spot Hero for the best available options.

  • What happens if I purchase a ticket & am unable to make it?

We understand that life happens. If you are unable to attend after purchasing a ticket, please email us at soulfulsistercollective@gmail.com While refunds are unavailable, your ticket can be exchanged for a future event.
